Wechsel bzw. Vertragsverlängerung von Mobil S ohne Handy nur zu For-friends Mobil S mit Top-Smartphone möglich?

Hallo,
ich habe aktuell den Mobil S (müsste 4. Gen sein) ohne Handy OHNE for-friends (monatlicher Preis ca. 36,- abzgl. Magenta1Vorteil 10,- = ca. 26,-).
Würde nun gerne in den neuen Mobil S for friends wechseln bzw. verlängern. Mit den aktuellen 30% kostet dieser ca. 34,- (49,- abzgl. 30%) bei Wahl mit Smartphone. Da der neue Vertrag dadurch offenbar günstiger als der alte werden würde (34,- zu 36,-), schickt er mich automatisch in den Mobil S mit TOP-Smartphone und ich lande bei ca. 40,- pro Monat.
Soll das tatsächlich so sein? Ist der von mir o.a. vermutete Grund der richtige?
Theoretisch möchte ich ja in einen höherwertigen Tarif wechseln: Mobil S ohne Handy --> Mobil S for-friends mit "normalen" Smartphone.
Vielleicht kann mich ein Telekom-MA dazu ja anrufen?!
