Using Speedport 4 as a modem

Hey folks,
I do have an Internet from Telekom. My router is Speedport Smart 4. Also I have Asus RT-AC86U that I use for Wi-Fi mostly (because Telekom plug is in the corner of a room, from where it is not possible to serve Wi-Fi.
As far as I understand - the proper setup in such a case would be to use Asus device as a router and set Telekom in Modem (bridge) mode.
I tried to do so: switched Speedport Smart into a "DSL Modem" and tried to configure ASUS for the PPPoE connection, but I would not say it is super straightforward.
Is there any instructions available how to configure Speed Port device to use together with Asus or other device as a main router?
What I found in the Internet (did not work):
the user name for a PPPoE connection is the T-Online connection ID+T-Online access number+Mitbenutzernummer+@t-online.de.
The password is the personal password.
Anschlusskennung + T-Online Nummer + 0001@t-online.de (als fortlaufende Nummer eingeben, keine Leerzeichen, kein „+“)
