Kabel Fehler (e0)

Hello,

I guess I have an FTTB connection in my apartment building. I only have a 7 digit code and an ethernet port in my own apartment. I activated my connection last week, still I dont have internet. I tried going to Telekom shops and called Telekom. I could not find any help!

I have a Speedport Smart 4 router, I aslo tried it configuring manually. It shows "Kabel Fehler (e0)". Is there something I need to do in the main building connection to get the internet?

I find it really annoying to solve this issue as my German is also not good!

The Smart 4 is not compatible with FTTB , you need the Smart 4 Plus which also support G.fast.

      Hi @aswin_sathish,

as @NDiTF mentioned a Speedport Smart 4 would need a Glasfasermodem 2 as well to work properly.

You can just double-check the type of your device on its back.

The Glasfasermodem 2 can be bought online or in our shops.

      Kind regards

      Louisa

A "Glasfasermodem 2" requires an FTTH connection (Gf-TA) based on GPON. According to the TO, however, this is an FTTB -Line (with a corresponding RJ45 socket in the apartement), i.e. a G.fast connection. The "Glasfasermodem 2" does not work there!

See also the Article i linked above (there under FTTB ).

An alternative for the Smart 4 Plus would be (e.g.) a Draytek Vigor 166 (Gen 2), which could be used as a G.fast-Modem for the Smart 4 (non Plus).

Oh my! Thanks a lot for the advice @NDiTF.

I mixed something up - my apologies! 😱

@aswin_sathish So you do need a different router in this case.

      Kind regards

      Louisa
