Future glass fibre connection
vor 14 Tagen
E-On have the contract for installing the last section of glass fibre to houses in our area. I currently have a Telekom Magenta XL DSL connection, the 24 month contract is ending next month. I do not especially want to have internet from E-On based on the reviews I've seen. But they say that if I don't then in a couple of years when other providers are allowed to sell glass fibre services, I will need to pay about 500 Euros for the connection. This seems like an argument intended to persuade me but I would be surprised if Telekom would charge such a fee in future. Anyone got any thoughts or insight in this issue?

There's no point in looking ahead what future conditions for fibre plans will be like. Telekom is already charging up to 800 Euro for setting up a fiber connection under certain conditions.
Make up your mind what you need today and decide. Getting connected to fiber free by E-On is a strong point and if you're not happy with them, you may always go back to Telekom.

Hello @Canhams,
welcome to the community. 😊
To be able to give you proper and accurate advice, please fill in your details in your profile (mobile number and contract number).
I’ll then get in touch with you directly so we can review your current contract together and see what the best and most suitable option is for you.

My question is about the situation where I choose not to take a contract with EON now so they do some basic setup 8I don't exactly know what) for free as part of the roll out, but they tell me in future it will still cost hundreds of Euros to connect if we don't take them up on a contract now. If they roll out here (which they are doing) and we later come to Telekom and say "we would like a fiber contract with you" (once the initial period is over (they have exclusive rights for the first two years I think) will we have to pay Telekom hundreds of Euros to connect to the infrastructure?

Lot's of guessing. Crucial for you is to get the physical fibre now. If not, you risk to wait for Telekom forever or end up paying E-On for the last couple of meters because you didn't sign up now.
Just my 2 cents...

Hi @Canhams,
and thank you @DMSE.
Has that answered the question?
Sincerely,
