Seeking information on how to move a Telekom Germany contract to Greek Cosmote instead

vor 4 Jahren

I am a client of Telekom Germany, with a current contract until August 2022, but I would like to cancel my contract in Germany. I have since moved to Greece, and although there are not really any roaming charges for me, I would like to have a Greek (+30) number instead of a German one (+49). Additionally, I would be interested to see if I can move my contract to Greece as it should be cheaper per month (rates are much cheaper than Germany, overall). I saw that OTE group is in fact owned by Telekom. Could you please advise if this would be possible? I have paid separately for my iPhone, its not part of my contract.

    Hello @jordanscottdavidson

When moving abroad you  can cancel  your  mobile  contract three months to the end of the month.

I guess that the answer will be "no". Too complicated to manage that...

But better s.b. from Telekom to answer that question.

    Good evening @jordanscottdavidson,

many thanks for contacting us here in our community.

As @Woochdou you have the possibility to cancel your current contract because of moving to Greece.

All details how you can do it, he also mentioned. Have a look on this page:
    https://www.telekom.de/hilfe/auftrag-erste-schritte/umzug/umzug-ins-ausland?samChecked=true

Moreover @muc80337_2 gave you the correct answer according to your wish moving your German mobile number to Greek Cosmote.
This moving, even if your searches are right, is not possible.
There are multiple reason why not, but the most central point is:
It's way much to complicate to manage this not to mention the international circumstances.

So my advice at this point is:
Please cancel your current contract in Germany because there will be problems using it all the time in Greece if it's still going on.
For reasons why have a look here due to the point "Fair Use Policy":
    https://www.telekom.de/unterwegs/tarife-und-optionen/roaming/informationen-zu-roaming#roaming-regulierungen

If there are further questions - please do not hesitate to contact me here again.

    Best regards

    Sarah D.

Use of Utiq technology powered by your telecom operator

We, Telekom Deutschland GmbH, use the Utiq technology for digital marketing or analytics (as described on this consent notice) based on your browsing activity across our websites (only if you are using a supported internet connection provided by a participating telecom operator and consent on each website).

The Utiq technology is privacy centric to give you choice and control.

It uses an identifier created by your telecom operator based on your IP address and a telecom reference such as your telecom account (e.g., mobile number).

The identifier is assigned to the internet connection, so anyone connecting their device and consenting to the Utiq technology will receive the same identifier. Typically:

  • on a broadband connection (e.g., Wi-Fi), the marketing or analytics will be performed based on the browsing activities of consenting household members’.
  • on mobile data, the marketing will be more personalised, as it will be based on the browsing of the individual mobile user only.

By consenting, you confirm that you have permission from the telecom account holder to enable the Utiq technology on this internet connection.

You can withdraw this consent anytime via "Manage Utiq" at the bottom of this site or in Utiq’s privacy portal (“consenthub”). For more, see Utiq's privacy statement.
