2.4 GHz network won't connect

vor 2 Tagen

Hello,

I reconfigured my router settings on speedport.ip to change the name of the 5GHz network to <network_name>- 5G so that it appears as a different network while connecting. Unfortunately now, whenever I'm out of range of the 5GHz network, my devices are unable to connect to the regular <network_name> , that is, the 2.4 GHz network. Could someone please help? I absolutely cannot work from home because of this issue.

Is the 2.4 GHz still set to WPA2?

I don't recollect changing the security settings specifically. Does this affect me?

Did you perform a reset beforehand? Then check what the security settings are now.

Thank you for your contribution to our community. 🙏🏽

Which security certificate is set? Is it WPA2? Are any devices registered with the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network?

      Best regards
      Timur

      • Does the 2.4 network work if you completely disable the 5 GHz network?
      • Mobile devices tend to stick to a SSID as long as possible. Probably you dont move far enough out of the 5 GHz network to have clients change to 2.4.
      • I dont own a speedport so please regard my suggestions as general advice only

Yes, you can turn the two Wi-Fi networks on and off separately. This can be done in the configuration menu.

      Hello all,

      Thank you for your help

Fix - Reverted back to old settings (same network name for 2.4GHz and 5GHz)

Learning - never change your Speed port settings :)
