Welcher Port ist denn beim Postausgangsserver gesetzt ? (587)
Ich habe mal einige (ältere!) Foren durch gestöbert.
Das Problem scheint wohl nur bei POP3 zu existieren.

Bekommst du die Fehlermeldung auch bei IMAP ?
Ansonsten solltest du dir mal überlegen, ein anderes Mail-Programm zuzulegen.
Windows Live Mail ist wie Windows XP und Vista End of Life. (KEIN SUPPORT)
Benutzung also auf eigene Verantwortung.
