Can I take over the internet contract from a previous tenant that I cannot reach anymore?

Hi there,

I took over a flat with already a connection, with Magenta M and speedport router, from previous tenant that had a running contract and did not terminate, but also I cannot reach him anymore as he flew to another country.

I work from home so I need the connection and I don't know for how long he's paying for his contract.

To avoid interruption of the internet service, can I take over his contract or what is best for me to do in this case?
Thanks a lot in advance for any help!

Hm. Does not look good. First of all Telekom supports such issue only in very limited frame in the fixed network area (e.g. your father has died, then you can take over his contract) - and second of all taking over a contract (which is usually possible in Telekom mobile network business) requires that BOTH customers agree on that, the old one and the new one. As the old one is not reachable... I do not see a solution of taking over the contract.

However what I recommend you to do is to find out and note down the phone numbers of the current contract, and you should try this link

      Anschlussinformation

and note down the line ID. Such info helps Telekom to quickly identify the line.

That is essential information when ordering a new contract - which you can do already before the old contract has ended. Watch out for an info field that asks the phone number(s) or line ID of the former contract.

Please do not post the phone numbers/line ID here in the public part of the forum. You might however post this information in the info section of your forum profile, accessible via the link in my footer section. Also write there the hours you can be contacted via phone - and for that purpose please do also put in the phone number field the phone number (mobile?) under which a Telekom Teamie may bes contact you on this issue.
