Cable defect and wrong password

vor 10 Monaten

Hello,

First of all I apologize for speaking in English, I unfortunately don't speak German yet.

I'm contacting you because I encountered an issue while trying to connect my speedport. I just subscribed to magenta xl flex and got the speedport this weekend. I have an appointment on the 13th but I tried to see if I could do it without having to wait for the technician (ready to surf method)

I encountered two issues:
- the cable is apparently defect, there's "kabel Fehler e0" written on the speedport
- the password under the speedport doesn't work. I see the wifi name and when I try to log in it says password incorrect (and I tried multiple times)

I think, maybe, it's because my internet hasn't gone live yet but still I find these occurrences weird enough. I really need internet ASAP for my work and I'm trying to ensure that if i need another cable / speedport I'll have one before the appointment.

So my question is : what do I do? Is this normal?

Thank you in advance,
Have a nice day,

@jmoser57: The DSL cable is plugged into the gray DSL socket of the Smart 4 and into the TAE connection socket? Do you also use the WLAN-Schlüssel for the WiFi connection and not the Gerätepasswort? The WiFi key (password) is called WLAN-Schlüssel.

      Regards Ulrich

Thanks Ulrich, now I feel stupid because I indeed used the wrong password! I'm connected but no internet, so I'll wait for the 13th.

The Speedport Smart 4 router reports a "kabel Fehler e0" error when it fails to detect a DSL signal. Most of the time, a customer's phone socket is only connected to the network at the time of installation, i.e. on the 13th. Until then there is no signal on the line and hence no error message.

Out of expericence as a customer myself, I doubt that Telekom is able to move the installation date any forward. However you can wait for a support representative here, maybe there is something that can be done, who knows.

As a stop gap: Wifi tethering is available on most smartphones, so you might be able to connect your computer to the internet via your phone. Unfortunately, that can burn through your data allowance quite quickly, depending on your plan and what you use the internet for.

      Hello Belana,

Sorry I didn't answer due to the hidden number. You can call me whenever between 9am to 7pm I'll try my best to answer. I do agree with you that I should wait for the technician to arrive and try to connect everything before trying to find a solution. So it's okay with me if you don't call back this week and if we encounter an issue saturday I'll reach out again so we can talk on the phone if that's okay with you?

I think in some sense I just needed reassurance that the cable being "defect" was only due to internet not being launched yet, cause it's really complicated for me if I don't get internet by toward the end of the month. But yeah, like I said I'll see on Saturday.

In the meantime, thank you very much for your help and I wish you a nice evening,

      Best Regards,

      Jolène
